2024 CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES

CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY COURSE

 For Nurses and Allied Health Professionals

(Philippine Oncology Nurses Association, Inc. (PONA), in partnership with the Aesculap Academy)

This course is a 24-hour hybrid training designed to equip nurses and allied health professionals with knowledge of fundamental principles in handling and managing chemotherapy agents. Participants will also gain knowledge, and skills to provide and reinforce vital information on safe quality care for a cancer patient on chemotherapy agents and experiencing oncologic emergencies.

VAD IN FOCUS

Care and Management of Cancer Patients with Implanted Vascular Access Device
(Philippine Oncology Nurses Association, Inc. (PONA), in partnership with the Aesculap Academy)
An 8-hour workshop designed to educate nurses on the essential competencies in caring for patients with implanted vascular access devices using evidence-based recommended practices and standards. 

Aside from knowledge-based sessions, the program includes skills demonstration and validation focusing on the following:
  • Accessing and de-accessing access ports using a Huber needle
  • Cleaning, dressing, and care of IVAD access for infection prevention and control
  • Flushing and maintenance of access device
  • Blood drawing using access ports
  • IVAD troubleshooting
  • Health education to patients
 
 

Instructions:

  1. Create an account for Aesculap Academy.
  2.  For Profession, select ‘OR/Nursing/CSSD Staff’.
  3. For Discipline, select ‘Oncology’ then click the search icon.
  4. Book the activity (Cancer Chemotherapy Course/VAD in Focus).
  5. Fill-out necessary information.
  6. Wait for the booking confirmation and invoice from the Aesculap Academy representative.
  7. Pay corresponding fees.
  8. The final confirmation email will be sent once requirements are settled and validated.
